综述

Microsoft Windows 桌面操作系统是目前能看到的主要 Microsoft Windows 系列。其开发最早可以追溯到 1983 年。

以时间的先后顺序大致可以分为以 DOS 为基础的 Windows 操作系统，即 Windows 1.0，Windows 2.0，Windows 3.1 等；以传统内核为基础的 Windows 操作系统，即 Windows 95，Windows 98，Windows Nashville，Windows Me 等；和目前广泛应用于各业界的以 Windows NT 内核为基础的 Windows 操作系统，即 Windows NT 4.0，Windows 2000，Windows XP，Windows 7，Windows 8.1，Windows 10，Windows 11 等。

Microsoft Windows 在其 40 年的岁月里不断改进，包容万象，时刻优化，随着时间的推移，Microsoft Windows 系列桌面操作系统已经成为了客户端，服务器，嵌入式等各行业各用途计算机安装操作系统时不可忽视的一项选择。

关于 Windiows 10 for Xbox One

Windiows 10 for Xbox One 不属于 Windows CoreOS 部分，也不基于 Windows Mobile 系列，故属于桌面操作系统。

关于 Windows for Pen Computing 2.x

从未有过 Windows for Pen Computing 2.x 的说法，Windows for PenComputing 在 Windows 95 时代演变为了可选组件。
